Environment Canterbury used GIS for regional environmental and transport work. Its datasets included wetlands, bus stops and resource information. Wetland dataset metadata describes work from the 1980s through the 2000s; correspondence in 2003 describes bus-stop and resource datasets.
Terralink’s 4 March 2004 announcement names Environment Canterbury as a participant in the shared South Island orthophoto acquisition. The stated uses included regional GIS, consent, land-use, civil defence and asset-management work.
