By early 2017, a Māori-focused GIS Facebook group was an active practitioner space for sharing technical questions, events, maps, links and peer support. Participant histories describe the group as part of a wider move from conference-based exchange toward online discussion and kaupapa-specific mapping activity.
The group was deleted after it was hacked.
