Ian Sutherland requested the Renwick fault-trace work described in Geotech Consulting’s letter to Marlborough District Council on 10 May 2006. The consultant supplied hand-drawn interpretations for transfer into the council GIS and asked that their approximate locations and interpretive character remain visible in the resulting data.
The correspondence says the work had been requested by council officer Ian Sutherland. It is a small but revealing handoff: field interpretation became pencil lines, pencil lines became digital geometry, and the uncertainty could not sensibly be cleaned away by the software.
