Julian Kardos moved from research on uncertainty in GIS into enterprise software and digital business. He co-founded Electric Kiwi, launched in May 2015, and brought experience in large-scale software development and open-source technology to its online electricity-retailing model. The company used smart-meter information to design off-peak pricing and its Hour of Power offer, extending his data work into the energy sector.
Julian Kardos completed a PhD on visualising uncertainty in GIS in 2005. His biography in the 2008 Geospatial Vision volume identifies him as an Intergraph business-development manager and consultant, with interests in collaboration and spatial data infrastructure. He co-authored its chapter on tessellation methods for displaying geographical uncertainty with Antoni Moore and George Benwell.
