Geospatial Capability Committee

OrganisationGeospatial Capability Committee Women in GIS

The Geospatial Capability Committee is LINZ’s cross-sector forum for building New Zealand’s geospatial workforce. Its work connects public agencies, education providers, professional groups, Māori geospatial communities and industry.

Its goals include strengthening geospatial education at school and tertiary levels, improving women’s representation in senior geospatial roles, and creating high-quality pathways for Māori participation. The committee also designed and runs the biennial New Zealand Geospatial Industry Profile Survey, first conducted in 2023 to establish a baseline for tracking workforce change.
